Security Alert 7/5/2026: Fraudulent Email Impersonating Century Heritage FCU
An important notice regarding a phishing email scam that occurred over the weekend.
What Happened:
- Over the weekend, scammers sent emails designed to look like official communications from Century Heritage FCU.
- The fraudulent emails asked recipients to click a link to an eSignature document — Century Heritage FCU did not send these messages. The link actually leads to a malicious file which would be dangerous to download or open.
The majority of these emails were sent to recipients who are not members of CHFCU.
This type of attack is known as phishing — criminals impersonate trusted organizations to steal personal information or spread malicious software.
Please Note: Century Heritage FCU systems are Not involved or affected. These emails were sent by external scammers impersonating our organization.
How to Spot Phishing:
- Unsolicited Emails: We will never ask you to sign documents via unsolicited email without prior notice.
- Check the Sender address: Always verify the email comes from an official
@chfcu.orgdomain. - Hover over any link before clicking: If the URL looks unusual, do not click it.
- Urgency: Phishing emails often create a false sense of urgency to get you to act quickly.
What You Should Do:
- 🚫 Do Not Click: Do not click any links or open attachments in the suspicious email.
- 🔒 Do Not Share: Do not provide any personal, financial, or account information in response to the email.
- 🗑️ Delete It: Delete the email from your inbox immediately to prevent accidental interaction.
